Third Island Gin
700ml / 46.5% ABV
As the flagship offering of New Zealand’s southernmost distillery, Third Island Gin was born of an attempt to capture the essence of Rakiura / Stewart Island in the best way we knew how.
Locally hand-foraged mānuka, rimu & horopito dance alongside classic gin botanicals in a sub-Antarctic shower of some of the world’s freshest rainfall - our distillery's only water source.
These native accents – reminiscent of tea tree, young pine & pepper – are harvested from the surrounding rainforest on the morning of each batch’s inception.
In every sip, a delicate mouthfeel carries a bold yet inviting sense of juniper & citrus at its forefront before shining a spotlight on mānuka and rimu – refreshing notes which evoke a sense of immersion in our untouched and untamed wilderness.
A final lingering impression of horopito – highlighted by a blend of carefully-curated spices – leaves the palate with nothing more than a desire to once again indulge in this unique expression of Rakiura.

Third Island Navy Strength Gin
700ml / 57.4% ABV
It's our classic Third Island Gin - now of seafaring stature.
A Brief History of 'Navy Strength' Gin
In the 18th Century, the Royal Navy began the practice of storing gin rations below deck alongside gunpowder.
As such it was crucial that, should a barrel burst, the wet gunpowder would still ignite in the heat of battle.
Anything under 57.15% - or "gunpowder proof" - was barred from ships, while any gin stronger was welcomed aboard.
And with that, Navy Strength Gin was born.

Just as with our flagship Third Island Gin, locally hand-foraged mānuka, rimu & horopito dance alongside classic gin botanicals in a sub-Antarctic shower of some of the world’s freshest rainfall.
The higher proof required in order to pass muster allows for the expression of a richer, more intense botanical profile as compared to our original Third Island Gin - while still remaining deceptively smooth in mouthfeel.
